How it works

Build your mailbox post in four steps

Every choice is made right on the product page, with pictures of each option and the price added as you go.

1

Pick a post style

Seven styles from 4" to 10" square. Bigger bases and raised panels give a more formal, estate look.

2

Choose material & color

White PVC is standard. Choose Cedar-PVC for a cedar tone, a factory-painted color, or Santa Fe poly woodgrain.

3

Add a mailbox

Pick from five mailboxes in steel, cast aluminum or solid copper, or order the post alone to use your own.

4

Make it yours

Add an address sign, floating numbers, a copper pineapple, a flower box, a newspaper box or a second mailbox arm.

Step 2

Materials & colors

All three materials are made to stay outside year-round without rotting, cracking or attracting insects.

White PVC

Cellular PVC in crisp white. Comes standard on every post and never needs painting.

Included

Hartford post in Cedar-PVC

Cedar-PVC

A cedar-tone PVC that can be painted or stained. Available on Annapolis, Hartford, Dover and Madison.

Why PVC and poly

Curb appeal without the upkeep

Wood posts rot at the ground line and need painting every few years. Royal Crowne posts are cellular PVC or solid poly lumber, so they won't rot, crack, peel or attract insects. Wash them with soap and water and they look like the day you installed them.

Installation & USPS guidelines

Installing your post

  • Most posts slide over a standard 4x4 wood post (not included) set in the ground.
  • Set the 4x4 in concrete for the sturdiest post, and check it's plumb before the concrete sets.
  • Call 811 before you dig to have buried utility lines marked.

USPS mailbox placement

41"–45"from the road surface to the bottom of the mailbox (or its point of entry)
6"–8"back from the curb to the front of the mailbox

Check with your local post office before installing; some routes have their own requirements.

Questions

Mailbox post FAQ

Does the post come with a mailbox?

Only if you choose one. Pick any of our five mailboxes on the post's page, or order the post alone and mount your own.

What's the difference between White PVC and Cedar-PVC?

White PVC is bright white and never needs painting. Cedar-PVC has a cedar tone and can be painted or stained to match your home.

What is the "Plus" version?

A "Plus" post adds a newspaper box under the mailbox arm. It's available on the Annapolis, Hartford, Dover, Madison and Providence for $59.

How long until it ships?

Each post is built to order in Lancaster County, PA, and ships in about 3–4 weeks. Shipping is free to the lower 48 states.

Will it rot, crack or fade?

No. Cellular PVC won't rot, crack or attract insects, and our poly woodgrain resists fading, cracking and peeling. Both carry a limited lifetime warranty on the material.

Can I match my lamp post?

Yes. Our lamp posts use the same white PVC, Cedar-PVC, painted and poly woodgrain finishes, with matching trimmed, boxed and raised-panel bases.
